About Me

Hello and welcome to my blog.

My name is Meena.  I live in Colorado with my husband and two sons.  After a carefree life of roaming the streets of Chennai with my friends, never having entered the kitchen, except to see what was cooking, it was a rude shock to come to Colorado. Here I was expected to produce delectable meals three times a day.  My husband was very supportive and never complained even if there was too much salt in the sambar or if my idlis were flat. 

My mom never expected me to learn cooking.  She did not like anyone interfering with her in the kitchen and that trait has rubbed off on me.  I don’t like sharing my space with anyone else.  So, the name of my blog is actually an oxymoron.  As my friends will say – no one has ever cooked with Meena!

I love to cook. I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by extraordinary cooks, starting with my mom, then my mother-in-law, a great set of friends as well as their moms.  I have learned a lot from all of them and it is reflected in my cooking.  None of what I make is “original”.

I am hoping to share a few of my recipes here.  Please do share your comments and give me some feedback if you try out any of these recipes.
